Dairy Council celebrates World School Milk Day

The Dairy Council has invited children and parents along to Birmingham’s science museum, Thinktank, to begin celebrations for World School Milk Day.

With the aim of promoting the importance of drinking milk to school children in a fun and educational way, nutritionists and dieticians from the Dairy Council carried out interactive experiments to allow children to visualise some of the major nutrients and structural molecules found in milk.

A variety of experiments throughout the day that allowed both children and parents understand a little more about how to identify the different macronutrients in snacks and demonstrate the need for balance in the diet.

The experiments can be recreated at home or in schools encouraging children to continue learning about the nutritional aspects of milk.

Photographs and short videos of the event will be promoted on social media in the days building up to World School Milk Day (30 September) to encourage school teachers and children to get involved with the day itself.
