Emmi buys Bettinehoeve

The Swiss dairy group Emmi acquired a holding of 60% of the Dutch company Bettinehoeve, which is the largest producer of fresh and ripened goat cheese in the Benelux countries.

The goat milk specialties of Bettinehoeve are mainly marketed under the brand “Bettine”, and are primarily in the Netherlands, where Bettinehoeve generates a good 50% of the sales. Main export markets are the UK, Germany, France, the Nordic countries and Belgium. In sales overseas, the company is working with the Emmi subsidiary AVH dairy.

Sybren Ewijk, CEO of Bettinehoeve, says of the move, “The partnership provides great synergies and growth opportunities, so the distribution of Bettine products can be enhanced through the distribution network of Emmi in Europe and overseas.”

Urs Riedener, CEO of Emmi Group, adds, “Emmi now has an established network of companies that are successful in the premium and speciality markets. It is one of our outspoken strengths to in the long term, integrate pioneering family business successes into the Emmi Group. If the culture of the company maintained, this contributes to its success in the market.”
