Olympians gear up for Müller Anniversary Games

A host of reigning Olympic and World medallists will appear at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London on 22-23 July, just two weeks before the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, as they compete in the Müller Anniversary Games.

Mo Farah will return to the scene of his London 2012 victories to take on many of his main rivals in the IAAF Diamond League 5000m at the Müller Anniversary Games. This will be the first time he has raced over 5000m at the former Olympic Stadium since he won a e gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics, and Farah believes that the Müller Anniversary Games will be vital to his Olympic defence.

British star Jessica Ennis-Hill will also compete at the Müller Anniversary Games ‘Super Saturday.’ The Olympic and world heptathlon champion will compete in the 100m hurdles and joins an already impressive field which could easily be an Olympic final line-up.

“I love running the hurdles and know there is a quicker time in me this year. The competition on the Friday night at the Müller Anniversary Games will be tough, so I am banking on a good crowd to lift me to run a good time,” she says.

The top event across the weekend is the men’s 200m with Olympic gold medal winner Usain Bolt facing British talent Adam Gemili, Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake and Zharnel Hughes in what is expected to be the fastest 200m ever staged in the UK.

Michael Inpong, chief marketing officer at Müller, explains, “We are delighted to announce that some of the world’s best athletes will compete at the Müller Anniversary Games in July. We are a proud supporter of British Athletics, and we can’t wait to cheer on all the athletes who will be on incredible form, putting everything on the line to be ready for Rio.
