Hochwald to close at Wieding

Hochwald Foods is closing production at the Weiding site in Bavaria, Germany as of 31 March 2018.The German dairy is focusing on the processing of cooperative milk, increasing its efficiency in production and optimising logistics, the firm says.

“This decision is one of the most difficult in the history of Hochwald”, says Detlef Latka, chief executive officer of Hochwald Foods. “Before the decision, we thoroughly examined all possibilities.”

“Parts of the production are being shifted to other sites of the Hochwald Group”, explains Karl Eismann, chief operating officer. “We are concentrating on our production sites in Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, Lower Saxony and the Dutch Bolsward.”
