British dairy group acquires milk subsidiary

British independent dairy group Meadow Foods has announced its acquisition of Fayrefield Liquids. The subsidiary of Fayrefield Foods trades in liquid milk throughout Europe.

Meadow Foods has had a close trading relationship with Fayrefield over many years, which included the integration of milk collections. The company will now be meeting with the producers and customers involved over the next couple of weeks to introduce the business and welcome them to Meadow Foods.

Jim Bebb, director of milk procurement and logistics, comments: “The acquisition of Fayrefield Liquid’s producers was a logical step for Meadow Foods as we have integrated our milk collections for a number of years. We are delighted to welcome the valued producers to Meadow Foods and we plan to meet with them face to face to introduce ourselves in the coming weeks.”

Meadow Foods has also announced that it will be increasing its milk price by +0.85ppl from 1 September, taking their standard A litre milk price to 29.00ppl. The company also revealed its estimated B Price range for July is between 30ppl to 33ppl as the market currently shows signs of strengthening towards the latter half of the year.

Meadow Foods currently employs approximately 280 people and handles in excess of 650 million litres of milk each year direct from over 650 farmer suppliers from across the UK.
