Food Union launches cocktail inspired ice creams
In keeping with the spirit of cutting edge creativity and consumer-centric innovation, Food Union, the global scale ice cream and dairy producing group, has developed a range of novel cross-category ice creams inspired by some of the world’s best loved cocktails.
Fusing the power of mixology with the company’s confectionary expertise to create new taste sensations – bringing the bar to the freezer – Food Union debuts flavours based on cocktail favourites; Orange Spritz and Piña Colada.
Food Union says that no tropical beach moment is complete without the timeless classic, the Piña Colada. The luxurious creamy taste of milk with that swirl of pineapple and coconut elixir sipped idly under palm fronds is as synonymous with holiday time as the smell of sun cream. And that sun-kissed feeling is the point of inspiration for EKSELENCE Caramel Piña Colada – a coconut and pineapple ice cream with caramel sauce – crafted to transport consumers straight to that island.
The vibrant orange of an Orange Spritz that is so visually distinctive on bars and summer terraces across the world has been re-imagined as a refreshing EKSELENCE Orange Spritz ice cream coated in thick white chocolate.
Normunds Stanevics, CEO of Food Union Europe, says: “These new ice creams were developed at our Innovation Centre in Riga, Latvia to perfectly fuse the art of mixology with our ice cream know-how. By putting a modern twist on traditional dairy products enables us to broaden our consumer appeal and give our existing consumers the opportunity to explore new, tantilising flavours.”
Both cocktail inspired products fall under Food Union’s EKSELENCE brand. EKSELENCE ice cream is the perfection of Latvian artisanship. Made from the richest Latvian milk and cream, combined with the finest quality, carefully selected ingredients, Food Union says that EKSELENCE offers a masterful taste experience.
To create these hybrid products that fuse cocktail bar favourites with ice cream, the Food Union development teams went through extensive processes to create, test, taste and tweak until they produced a quality finished product that captures the essence of a cocktail on a stick that will appeal to consumers this summer.
