Mountain product seal awarded to DalterFood Parmigiano Reggiano
Italy’s DalterFood Group says its Solo di Pezzata Rossa Italiana Parmigiano Reggiano cheese has obtained the EU’s Mountain Food guarantee seal and designation. The Mountain Food designation was introduced in 2013 by EU Regulation 1151/12 to classify food products that originate in mountain areas of the European Union.
The indication of origin may only appear on the label if specific requirements are met: 100% of the milk must be milked in mountain bars, more than 60% of cow feed has to be cultivated in mountain areas, the dairy has to be ina mountain areas and maturation (minimum 12 months) must occur in the same region.
