Wells’ Dairy sells yogurt plant to Mexican company
US-based Wells’ Dairy has agreed to sell a yogurt production plant in Nebraska to Mexican company Grupo LALA, a leading producer and marketer of dairy products in Mexico and Latin America.
Financial details of the sale were not immediately released. The deal is expected to close at the end of January. Company officials say Grupo LALA has a licensing agreement to make and sell yogurt under the Wells’ Dairy Blue Bunny label for up to four years.
The Omaha plant was purchased by Wells’ Dairy from Safeway in 1982.
