The Greek dairy that launched feta as a pre-packed self-service product in Germany has scored another first with a range of feta spreads coming onto the market this winter.

SHM Hellas from Thessaloniki, which introduced the prepacked Greco feta brand in 1987 and now exports up to 200 t of feta and related cheeses every week to over 30 countries worldwide, has launched the 48% fat (in dry matter) feta spread Mevgal, aiming for a soft creamy texture mainly for sandwich and snack applications.
