Arla aims for 500 million litres

Arla’s UK operations is targeting a 500 million litre increase in its raw milk supply by 2015 and is well on track
to deliver this, the company says. It announced the recruitment plan in February 2012 and expects to purchase an additional 100 million litres from new members by January 2013. “We have made a successful start and anticipate that the launch of our milk sourcing model yesterday will prove attractive to potential new members,” Ash Amirahmadi, Arla’s head of milk procurement says.
Jonathan Ovens, AFMP chairman, adds: “As the launch of the new milk sourcing model demonstrates, Arla is a processor in which farmers can have confidence, knowing that they not only have a secure home for every litre of milk they produce, but that their processor is genuinely committed to working with a true cooperative mindset.”
Ovens says that a further attraction of joining AFMP is the prospect of the Partnership achieving full membership of Arla Foods amba. “This is by no means a done deal but we are on an exciting journey and will be entering into discussion with Arla Foods amba this autumn.”
