After consolidating its ice cream marketing internationally through the 2012-founded company DMK Eis – an organisation that has already scored significant sales in 25 countries – Germany’s leading processor DMK further extends its ice cream base by purchasing a major share in the Rosen Eiskrem Group. Rosen Eiskrem has four plants in Germany and a turnover of around €160 million. DMK Eis already has three plants and its estimated earnings for the present year have been put by its board of directors at some €140 m.

The key to the purchase is thought to be the outstanding export trade success of Rosen Eiskrem for its ice creams in lolly, wafer and pot forms. “Consolidation of the international ice cream market requires permanent investment in product development and technology,” says Rosen Eiskrem owner Dr Gotthard Kirchner, outlining the reasons for the deal, which still has to be approved by the German monopolies authority.
