The Dairy Producers Association of Namibia has called for a raw milk price increase to save the industry.

The country’s dairy industry is said to be threatened with extinction unless drastic measures are taken to save it. The industry can’t survive the competition from cheap South African dairy products flooding the local market and local producers have not received any price increases for the past two years.
Raw milk is supplied to Namibia Dairies and the producers are requesting the company to raise its prices for their benefit. Only UHT milk, not raw milk, cheese and yogurt, is receiving Infant Industry Protection from the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
