Dutch goat cheese producer Bettinehoeve and AVH dairy trade from Bergen, Switzerland (a subsidiary of Emmi) have cooperated on a new joint venture – Goat Milk Powder BV. A new dairy factory is being built in Etten-Leur, Netherlands and is scheduled to be operational in 2014. It will be able to process five tonnes of goat milk per hour, and goat milk and goat milk will be produced into “high-quality ingredients for the food industry,” the partners say. A wide range of products such as WPC with 65 to 80% protein, WMP, SMP and special powder blends will all be produced. Outside of the goat milk production season (April-August), the new venture plans to dry products for others. “There has been a great demand for goat whey these past five years but there has been limited availability of high-quality fluid goat whey,” notes Sybren Ewijk, Bettinehoeve’s commercial director.
