Russia may expand Polish meat ban to dairy
Russia is considering extending its ban on Polish food exports to include dairy products, according to Polish agriculture minister Andrzej Lepper.
Last year, Russia banned imports of Polish meat products because they did not comply with veterinary regulations. Lepper said he had received a letter from the Russian Federation advising that the ban may be widened to include milk products, the Moscow Times reports.
Polish-Russian relations are reported to have been tense since Poland’s entry to the European Union in 2004. Lepper says it is his priority to end the ban, which cut sales by Polish food producers to one of their key export markets.
