Fonterra must open up, says EU

The European Union expects the New Zealand government to follow through on promises to review Fonterra’s quota allocation, but debate continues over what exactly Fonterra’s status is.

EU Agriculture commissioner Marian Fischer Boel visited the country recently as the European states and New Zealand continue to struggle over concessions in the Doha Round. Boel says the EU will phase out export subsidies by 2013 and expects a similar move from New Zealand
