Germany: Plastic bottles dominate dairy drinks

The PE bottle is establishing a dominant position in dairy drink packaging on the German market, with the latest surveys giving this packaging a 19% rise in popularity for whey drinks and 10% for milk drinks.

Results issued by the central marketing and price reporting agency (ZMP) in Berlin comparing dairy drink packaging popularity in the first eight months of 2005 compared with the same period of the previous year, indicate that the traditional carton for milk drinks and drinking yogurt has maintained a small but stable presence, while foil topped plastic pots as containers have decreased substantially in popularity.
