Plastic milk bottles get positive response
Schoolchildren in Arizona trialling new 8 oz plastic milk bottles, say they prefer the milk in bottles than the usual supply of cartons
The little plastic bottles are becoming popular nationwide with more than 1,450 schools now offering them with meals.
The Deer Valley Unified School District is including 8 oz plastic bottles as part of its regular lunch programme at eight high and junior schools. The schools are joining a nationwide effort to encourage children to drink more milk as an alternative to soda and sports drinks.
The new plastic bottles are supplied by Shamrock Farms in Phoenix, but they are cost-prohibitive for some districts. However, some schools are absorbing the cost
