A select group of dairy companies attended a special ceremony in Chicago recently, to be presented with International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) Dairy Industry Safety Recognition Awards and Achievement certificates.

Sponsored by IDFA for the second year, the awards highlight the outstanding worker safety records of US dairy companies and were judged on specific data by the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Processing sites were judged in four categories: natural and processed cheese, dry, condensed and evaporated products, ice cream and frozen desserts, and fluid milk.

“We’ve had an extremely positive response from dairy companies to this programme, demonstrating the commitment that the industry has shown toward worker safety,” said Clay Detlefsen, IDFA vice president of regulatory affairs.
