Society of Dairy Technology welcomes new president

The Society of Dairy Technology held its 73rd annual general meeting on 9 November and president John Tuohy handed over the presidency to Soeren Vonsild of Alectia.
Vonsild was the driver behind the society’s annual dinner which is now well established, combining a day symposium and the dinner on the eve of the International Cheese Awards at Nantwich. He aims to widen participation in the society and this dinner is one way of encouraging engagement. His second key objective is the formation of a system for members to record their CPD activities via the SDT website.
In his address, Vonsild says, “I am excited about this opportunity to make a difference to the UK Dairy Industry. I see our society as the home for all UK dairy professionals and my aim is to make us more relevant and interesting to our members over the next two years. In particular, I will be reaching out to the Eden students and graduates, as they are representing the skills and commitment that the industry needs for a stronger future.”
