UK – A new association to represent the whole dairy industry, called Dairy UK has been launched today at the Dairy Event in Warwickshire.

It is the first time that all sectors of the UK industry have fallen under the same banner. Dairy UK’s inaugural chairman is Sir Don Curry. He said: “The creation of Dairy UK is a definitive watershed for the dairy industry. The importance of our industry in the UK demands powerful and unified representation and we believe Dairy UK will fulfil that crucial role. At last, we have an opportunity to move away from the ‘them and us’ divisions that have all too often undermined the interests of the industry in the past.” Director General of the group will be Jim Begg – who is presently in charge of the outgoing Dairy Industry Association Ltd (DIAL). He said: “Dairy UK has an enormous amount of authority and talent at its disposal and will make a significant difference to the way the dairy industry addresses issues both at home and in Europe.” Dairy UK will replace the Federation of Milk Groups and DIAL when it opens its doors on 1 October.
