OMSCo and Organic Valley support young dairy farmers

Organic Milk Suppliers Cooperative (OMSCo) has teamed up with American partner Organic Valley for a comprehensive knowledge exchange programme.
Lyndon Edwards, OMSCo’s deputy chairman, says, “Just under 20% of our membership is represented in our next generation (NextGen) group. It’s an initiative that allows OMSCo members aged up to 35 years old to meet and share information.”
The week-long tour, organised between OMSCo’s NextGen group and Organic Valley’s equivalent Gen-O, provided young US dairy farmers the chance to discuss best practices as well as visit several OMSCo farms and processing sites.
Edwards adds, “Both OMSCo and Organic Valley understand the importance of supporting young members in the industry and the exchange has provided a great opportunity to connect like-minded young members with a passion for dairy.
“With the next generation fundamental to the ongoing success of both cooperatives, we look forward to maintaining our relationship with the Organic Valley’s Gen-O programme to allow more of our NextGen group to connect and discuss international best practice in the future.”
