Arla Foods plans Caribbean milk production

UK – Arla Foods is investigating the possibility of setting up milk production in the Dominican Republic, where the company has exported Milex milk powder for over 50 years.

Arla has been considering the possibility of a base in the country for a few years, but the original plan to build a new dairy plant appears to have been scrapped in favour of buying an existing one.

“Consumers in the Dominican Republic know Milex as a healthy and tasty product and we believe there are good opportunities for exploiting the Milex brand in other product categories – initially for UHT milk,” said Peter Lauritzen, divisional director for Arla Foods Ingredients.
