BELGIUM – Campina’s Belgian division has launched a new milk this month, thanks to a co-operation deal with cattle feed manufacturers and farmers.

Sold in screwtop cartons under the new international Campina logo, the milk contains 20% more unsaturated fatty acids than average drinking milk.

According to Campina’s research team, the milk closely represents the composition of spring milk from cows which feed on new grass and it is also supplemented with Omega 3 fatty acids and conjugated linoleic acid.

To achieve the spring milk composition right through the year Campina Belgium (formerly Stassano) has planned special cattle feed.

The move comes hard on the heels of the egg industry, which pioneered “Omega 3 eggs” through layer diet supplementation in Europe.

Also this week, Campina opened its new research and product development centre at Wageningen in the Netherlands. The company hopes that the new centre will help to boost new product development.
