Dairy Crest fears for cheese and milk
UK – Dairy Crest has released a trading update ahead of its financial year-end that reveals its concern with the recent health of the milk and cheese sectors.
In a statement released this week, Dairy Crest referred to its Interim Statement that stated its fears that margins in the cheese industry were under short-term pressure due to high industry-wide cheese stocks.
It revealed that stocks had remained at a high level for longer than expected, but were now returning to more normal levels.
The statement also referred to the “challenging” trading conditions in the retail liquid milk market, but went on to say the business’ performance had improved in the second half of the financial year, in line with expectations.
Dairy Crest reported that Clover, Cathedral City, Frijj and the Yoplait brands had all performed well.
