SWITZERLAND – Nestle has signed an agreement with the Movenpick Group to acquire the Movenpick ice cream brand.

Sales of the ice cream, mostly through licence partners, amount to CHF300million (€204 million) with the Swiss business, including exports, accounting for €27 million. Nestle will continue to manufacture Movenpick ice cream products in Switzerland.

Nestle has said that the agreement is an important step in its goal to improve the growth and performance of its ice cream business and enhances its competitive position.

Movenpick, a multinational group based in Switzerland, carried out a review of the potential of its ice cream businesses following the acquisition by Nestle last year of one of its most important licensees, Scholler in Germany.
