Ice cream for prisoners

AUSTRALIA – Plans to give ice cream to inmates at an Australian prison have caused outrage amongst prison officers and union representatives.

Group 4, which runs Port Phillip Prison in Victoria, plans to install an ice cream machine in each of the prison’s 13 sections.

Prisoners already enjoy computer games and television, and the Australia’s Community and Public Sector Union claims that treatment of inmates is better than that of staff at the jail.
