Europe’s largest dairy co-operative, Netherlands-based Friesland Coberco Dairy Foods, is to invest US$32 million in the manufacture of dairy products in Tianjing, China.
The operation, which is to be situated 200km south of Peking, will take the form of a joint venture between Friesland Coberco and a Sino-Finnish company, with 70% of the capital belonging to the Dutch co-op.
It is anticipated that the new plant will process 100 million litres of milk each year. Products manufactured will include milk powder, condensed milk, liquid milk and drinking yogurt.
