New Zealand Dairy Group (NZDG) and South Island Dairy Co-operative (SIDC) have announced their intention to merge, thereby creating a powerful nationwide company.
NZDG is thought to have around 46% of the market in the North Island, while SIDC claims 12% of the market in the South Island.
The combined group would supply almost 60% of New Zealands’s dairy export volume and would have a turnover of NZ$2.5 billion.
Shareholders are to vote on the proposal early next year.
