Fonterra Malaysia names Ross as GM
Fonterra Brands (Malaysia) has appointed David Ross as its general manager. Ross, who has spent over 22 years with Fonterra, takes over from John McKay, who previously headed the local market operations. His appointment was effective 1 January.
Ross had been the general manager of the company’s Emerging Markets business since October 2007, overseeing seven operating units in six countries. In this role, he successfully led growth and profitable initiatives in markets such as Vietnam and Taiwan.
He was previously the general manager of Fonterra Brands Indonesia, one of Fonterra’s top five market operations in Asia with sustained double-digit growth.
The appointment marks a return to Malaysia for Ross, who spent over five years in the country from October 1997, focusing on nutritional and milk marketing. In his position of marketing director, Fonterra Brands Malaysia, he had a key role in driving the growth, profitability and appeal of the company’s flagship brands – Anmum, Anlene and Fernleaf.
“Malaysia has a dynamic dairy industry and it is an important market for Fonterra’s brands,” said Ross. “As Malaysians continue to demand nutritious products that improve their health and wellbeing, we continue to see positive growth opportunities.”
