EU bans Polish milk imports

Hygiene inadequacies in Polish dairy processing plants have prompted the European Commission to ban imports of Polish dairy products. Following detailed inspections by EU experts, the Commission has refused to renew the recently expired authorisation for forty Polish plants to export dairy products to the EU.
The Commission has stipulated that the ban will not be lifted until the Polish authorities can prove that processing standards have been brought up to the level of the EUs own plants.
