Isle of Mull Cheese has released Hebridean Cream Liqueur, in time for the holiday season. Available to purchase from 27 October, it is created, distilled and bottled at the family-run Sgriob-ruadh Dairy Farm and Distillery on the Isle of Mull in the UK. The liqueur has been created using aged spirit, produced by using the whey by-product of the cheese production the farm is known for. This ‘whey-ski’ is then combined with silky cream created from the farm’s milk and aged with oak to produce a smooth cream liqueur.

Featuring notes of caramel, toasted nuts, vanilla and cocoa, the Hebridean Cream Liqueur is bottled at 17% ABV and is best served over ice or added to a festive coffee, white russian or flat white martini. Lily Reade, granddaughter of Isle of Mull Cheese founder Chris Reade, is behind the new limited-edition Isle of Mull Hebridean Cream Liqueur.

A member of the third generation of the Reade family who own and run Sgriob-ruadh Dairy Farm and Distillery to this day, she says, “I’ve grown up watching my family make something from whatever the farm and the island gives us. Whether it was milk from the cows or rhubarb from the plentiful patches growing on the land, very little went to waste – there was always an idea to turn it into something we could eat, drink or share with others. This ethos extends to the production processes we use, fully powered by sustainable energy created using island resources.”

The ceramic bottle design features unique prints made using materials gathered from Sgriob-ruadh itself, including hair from the farm’s cows, leaves and foliage. These were raku-fired onto tiles to create the original textures and markings used in the bottle design, making it a distinctive keepsake celebrating the farm, the animals and the landscape behind the liqueur.

Available to purchase at an RRP of £29.99 (€35.50), the first 100 bottles of Isle of Mull Hebridean Cream Liqueur will come encased in a homemade gift bag, crafted on the farm by Lily’s gran, Chris, making it perfect for gifting and enjoying over the upcoming festive period. Limited to 600 bottles at launch, the new 50cl release will be available on a first-come, first-served basis on 27 October online and at the Isle of Mull Cheese Glass Barn Farm Shop. The launch marks a new chapter for the family business, which has grown from the farm established by Chris Reade 46 years ago into an internationally recognised producer of award-winning Isle of Mull cheese.
