SIAL for change: turning commitment into action for a more sustainable food industry

Credit: SIAL
As environmental and societal challenges continue to reshape the global food landscape, SIAL Paris 2026 strengthens its commitment to a more responsible food industry with an expanded edition of SIAL For Change. Going beyond its established awards competition, the initiative is evolving into a dedicated platform for dialogue, inspiration and concrete action.
From 17 to 21 October 2026, visitors to SIAL Paris will discover a brand-new 200m² space in Hall 6, bringing together committed businesses, sustainability experts and industry stakeholders around a shared ambition: accelerating the transition towards more resilient, inclusive and sustainable food systems.
Through a dedicated programme of talks, the presentation of inspiring initiatives and the recognition of seven outstanding award recipients, SIAL For Change aims to demonstrate that sustainability is not simply an ambition for the future, but a transformation already underway across the food value chain.
One of the key developments for 2026, SIAL For Change will have its own dedicated space at the exhibition, creating a meeting point for professionals seeking to better understand and address the environmental, social and societal challenges facing the food industry.
Designed as a hub for expertise, exchange and inspiration, this new 200 m² area will showcase initiatives from companies actively integrating Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) into their business models, while giving visitors access to practical solutions and new perspectives.
A dedicated stage will host a dynamic speaking programme featuring CSR experts, committed businesses, institutional partners and specialised organisations. Discussions will address some of the sector’s most pressing challenges, including ecological transition, climate change, regenerative agriculture, traceability, responsible sourcing, circular economy, food waste reduction and social inclusion. Find here the SIAL for Change program (updates as and when available).
Beyond raising awareness, SIAL For Change aims to equip industry professionals with actionable insights: understanding evolving regulatory and societal expectations, identifying committed partners, improving purchasing strategies and discovering solutions that can be integrated into their own value chains.
The space will also provide an opportunity to learn more about SIAL Paris’s own sustainability commitments and the measures implemented to reduce the exhibition’s environmental footprint.
By connecting ideas, expertise and real-world examples, SIAL For Change seeks to encourage collective action and demonstrate how responsibility can become a driver of innovation and long-term value creation.
Alongside this expanded programme, the SIAL For Change Awards continue to recognise companies translating environmental and societal commitments into tangible results.
For 2026, the competition has reached a new milestone through its partnership with The Foodies, a European initiative supported by the European Commission, dedicated to helping agri-food SMEs accelerate their sustainability transition.
This year’s selection highlights seven companies whose initiatives address different dimensions of sustainability, from agricultural practices and resource management to circular production models, fairer value distribution and healthier food systems.
LSDH (France) – Grand Prize, Large Companies & Mid-sized Enterprises The French food manufacturer Laiterie de Saint-Denis-de-l’Hôtel (LSDH) receives the Grand Prize for its comprehensive approach to sustainability, combining support for regenerative and agroecological farming, long-term agricultural partnerships, responsible packaging, animal welfare and employee engagement. Its strategy illustrates how CSR can be embedded across a company’s operations and relationships with its stakeholders.
ORIGINE SRL – Grand Prize, SMEs & Start-ups Specialising in spices including vanilla, cinnamon, ginger and cloves, ORIGINE SRL is recognised for placing Indonesian farming communities at the centre of its business model. With 100% of its partner farmers engaged in regenerative agriculture and agroforestry, full digital supply-chain traceability, and above-market compensation benefiting more than 8,000 farming families, the company demonstrates the potential of combining environmental responsibility with positive social impact.
ARDO (Belgium) – Jury’s Special Award, Large Companies The Belgian frozen food specialist is distinguished for its MIMOSA+ regenerative agriculture programme, supported by 70 agronomists working directly with growers. Its approach encompasses responsible water management, agricultural by-product valorisation, sustainable packaging and employee wellbeing.
Four thematic awards spotlighting concrete solutions In partnership with The Foodies, four additional distinctions recognise SMEs delivering impactful solutions to specific sustainability challenges:
- Greener Planet Award – INTACT (France): Recognised for developing plant-based proteins and low-carbon alcohol from legumes, using innovative industrial processes designed to significantly reduce energy consumption and environmental impact.
- Circular Chain Award – AFYREN (France): Rewarded for its circular production model, transforming biomass residues into bio-based organic acids while limiting carbon emissions, recycling water and recovering manufacturing co-products.
- Shared Value Award – KIGNON (France): Distinguished for combining food waste reduction and social inclusion, repurposing nearly 30 tonnes of unsold bread into organic biscuits every year while creating employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
- Nutrition Action Award – PESKESI (Greece): Recognised for promoting healthier and more responsible diets through organic, local and seasonal food, while helping preserve food biodiversity and raising consumer awareness.
Together, these seven award recipients reflect the diversity of approaches driving the food industry’s transformation. From established manufacturers to smaller entrepreneurial businesses, they highlight how environmental performance, social responsibility and economic development can be pursued together.

Through its expanded format, SIAL For Change reinforces the role of SIAL Paris as a platform for addressing the food industry’s long-term challenges.
By bringing together pioneering companies, industry experts and stakeholders from across the value chain, the initiative seeks to bridge the gap between ambition and implementation, promoting solutions that can inspire the wider sector.
Visitors will have the opportunity to discover the award-winning initiatives, explore emerging CSR practices, engage with committed organisations and identify new opportunities for collaboration.
A thematic route dedicated to CSR: during the five days of the show, the winners and finalists of the SIAL for Change awards will be featured in a dedicated themed tour. This specific route will allow visitors to easily identify companies that contribute, through their initiatives, to a more sustainable and responsible food industry.
SIAL For Change embodies a central conviction: building a more sustainable food future requires collective commitment, practical innovation and the sharing of solutions that deliver measurable impact.
