New addition set to make facility the world’s biggest
Fonterra’s Edendale facility is set to become the biggest dairy processing plant in the world with the addition of a fourth milk drier to the Southland, New Zealand, factory in September.
The $212 million project, which was necessitated by projected milk growth in the country’s South Island, is expected to add capacity for up to 27 metric tonnes of milk powder per hour.
Once the drier is perational, the plant will be capable of processing 15 million litres of milk per day.
