Nestlé milks grow, new Swiss facility opens
Swiss food giant Nestle has seen a 6% rise in quarterly profits as the company booked first-quarter revenue of CHF25.7bn (€15.8bn) for the three months to the end of March.
Milk products and ice cream remained Nestlƒ©’s biggest division by sales, with revenue rising 16% to CHF4.6bn (€2.8bn). Revenue from Nestle Nutrition rose 14.4% to CHF2.6bn (€1.6bn), thanks to significant growth from the company’s infant nutrition portfolio.
The company is augmenting that rise with a nutrition facility in Konolfingen, Switzerland that produce new-generation probiotic infant formula under the NAN brand.
It marks the first stage in a series of investments totalling around CHF180 million (€111m) over the next three years, strengthening Konolfingen’s position as a global manufacturing site for highly-specialised infant formula and healthcare nutrition. The new Nestle Nutrition industrial site will benefit from synergies with Nestle’s Product Technology Centre, also based in Konolfingen.
