Ugandan co-operative Uganda Crane Creameries Cooperative Union (UCCCU) is planning to establish a $3.5 million milk processing factory for surplus milk produced in the region.

Development partners include Land O’Lakes and the Swedish Development Centre. They will contribute to the plant in the form of loan guarantees. Regional farmers are set to contribute $1.1 million for the plant in Mbarara which will bring together seven district unions with about 20,000 members.
