Germany’s largest dairy Deutsches Milchkontor (DMK) with a turnover now topping €4.6 billion announces its takeover of the baby food specialist Sunval from Waghäusel near Karlsruhe (southwest Germany). The baby food market is booming in general, but Sunval helped its own growth substantially over the past three years by marketing only organically produced foods  and at the same time specialising in the private label market for the large supermarkets and pharmacy outlets. Resultant growth has been “impressive” according to one company spokesperson and annual turnover last year was put at “almost €33 million”.

DMK already has a substantial share of the baby food market in Europe through its subsidiary Humana which came into the stable when Humana Milchunion joined forces with Nordmilch to form DMK in 2011.
