Special honours for Reaseheath students

Two trainee dairy technologists at Reaseheath College in Nantwich, UK are in line for special honours after completing the second year of their Foundation Degree in Dairy Technology. Kirsty MacDonald, who works for Robert Wiseman Dairies, was selected as Best Practical Studen
t while Kelly Dearn, a Dairy Crest employee, was chosen as Best Academic Student. MacDonald was selected for her practical skills and for her ability to explain her practical knowledge to others. Dearn was chosen for consistently achieving outstanding exam and assignment results and for her exceptional attention to detail.
The award winners came from a 23 strong cohort of second year technologists, all of whom work for leading companies in the dairy industry. The technologists attend Reaseheath’s Eden International Dairy Academy for block release training and will graduate with a foundation degree in dairy technology on completion of their third year of training. They spend the rest of their time in the workplace. The education initiative, called Project Eden, is supported by key players in the dairy industry and is aimed at producing world-class staff.
