NZ’s Dairy Trust to buy cheese maker

New Zealand-based Fonterra rival Dairy Trust has made a full takeover offer for Open Country Cheese as part of growth plans for the company.

Dairy Trust, a subsidiary of Affco, already owns 30% of the cheese maker, which was set up as a dairy exporter in 2001. The deal values Open Country at AU $84.7 million (
