Martek signs agreement with Arla Foods
US company Martek is to take omega fatty acids DHA and ARA to European infant formula market with the signing of a multi-year agreement with Arla.
The company claims its blend of DHA and ARA is present in more than 85% of infant formula sold in the US. The agreement is set to bolster Martek’s distribution as Arla has subsidiaries in 19 export markets and points to the market opportunities for infant formula manufacturers to use omega ingredients.
DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and ARA(arachidonic acid) are found in human breast milk and are important to infant development. Martek produces traditional fiash-based oil vegetarian sources. Its Life’sDHA brand is made from algae grown in stainless steel fermentors.
