Swiss firm Alicon has detected prion proteins in milk, raising the possibility that BSE could be transmitted via milk.

This new study has encouraged stricter analysis of dairy products as scientists say they have detected the prion proteins in both human, cow, sheep and goat milk.
Prions were recently found in both pasteurised and homogenised milk on supermarket shelves but it remained unclear whether those detected were harmful or not.
