Danone and Yakult continue alliance

Danone and Yakult have agreed to extend their nearly decade-long strategic alliance and are planning to expand it into areas that are more operational in nature, which “offer benefits for both parties.” The firms have co-operated on probiotics and functional foods since 2004. Under this joint venture the companies have undertaken research and promotion, as well as ventures in India and Vietnam. Danone is a major shareholder of Yakult.
