Saputo gains Lion’s share in Australia

The everyday cheese business of Lion Dairy & Drinks in Victoria, Australia, is being sold to Canadian cheese giant Saputo for $134.4 million (€94.4m) in cash. The 170-person operation includes cutting and wrapping, distribution, sales and marketing. It also covers the Cracker Barrel, Coon, Mil Lel and Fred Walker brands. It is being purchased through Saputo’s Warrnambool Cheese subsidiary.
