Nigel White receives Cheese Industry Award

Former British Cheese Board (BCB) Secretary Nigel White received the Cheese Industry Award at the 2015 Royal Bath and West Show in recognition of his years of service in the dairy industry.
The Cheese Industry Award is presented every year to a key player in the dairy industry and recognises outstanding achievements in dairy production, marketing, research or training.
Nigel has worked in the dairy industry for 44 years, including the Milk Marketing Board, the Stilton Cheesemakers Association. He was appointed Secretary of the British Cheese Board in 1996, overseeing all marketing and promotion activities undertaken by the BCB to celebrate great British cheeses. He also acted as spokesperson for the organisation and continues to be a part of the BCB acting as a consultant following its integration into Dairy UK.
Responding to the honour, Nigel White says, “I am usually the person presenting this award so I was stunned to find out I was this year’s recipient. I have spent most of my career promoting our great British cheeses and I am thrilled to be honoured by my peers. The UK cheese industry is among the best in the world and it is an industry we can be extremely proud of.”
Dr Judith Bryans, chief executive of Dairy UK, says, “Nigel has spent a lifetime working in the dairy sector and has played a pivotal role in running the Stilton Cheese Makers’ Association and the British Cheese Board. We are delighted to see he is this year’s winner for his contribution to the British dairy industry.”
