DMK and DOC Kaas get go ahead for merger

With a ‘go ahead’ from the European Commission, the German dairy group Deutsches Milchkontor (DMK) and Dutch cheese dairy Drents-Overijsselse-Coöperatie (DOC Kaas) are preparing to merge. The merger is planned have effect from 1 April, whereafter Doc Kaas will be a DMK subsidiary.

“We are pleased that the European Commission has approved the merger, so that both companies can use it to strengthen their competitiveness in international markets. The joining of forces enables us to, both in short and long term, to achieve the objectives and thus to meet the interests of shareholders”, says Arjan Schimmel, CEO of DOC Kaas

“The European Commission decision confirms the competitive assessment of DMK GROUP and DOC Kaas”, says Dr Josef Schwaiger, CEO of the DMK Group.

“The merger will strengthen the competitiveness of DMK Group and DOC Kaas, which is not only benefits the dairy industry in Germany and the Netherlands, but also improve the position of the European dairy industry on the world market.”
