Mozzarella joint venture in Germany
German cheese manufacturer Allgäu Milch Käse is co-operating in production and sales with Swiss cheese manufacturer Züger Frischkäse, which is a specialist in fresh cheese, particularly mozzarella. Hawanger Käsegenuss has been founded with headquarters in Hawangen near Memmingen, Germany. Planned investments should contribute to the long-term plant and job security in Hawangen.
The aim of this cooperation is to provide added value. It is particularly important to pull mozzarella production to Hawangen, as Züger will assure global sales.
In the 50-50 partnership, both companies plan to invest €4.5 to 5.5 million, so a sufficient utilisation of the Hawangen plant (140 million kg milk throughput) should be achieved.
