Industry innovation awarded
UK – Trioni, Purbeck Ice Cream, Suffolk Meadow and Joe Dickinson were all winners at this year’s Milk Development Council (MDC) Awards for Innovation.
Trioni, based in Pembrokeshire, won its retail award for the Daioni range of flavoured organic milks. Purbeck ice cream won the catering award for its Chilli Red ice cream. Suffolk Meadow took the David Hall On-Farm Business Development Award for the successful growth of its Marybelle dairy range.
An award in celebration of the achievements of one individual who has made a significant contribution to the dairy industry went to 86 year old Joe Dickinson. He was awarded for his flare for innovation, the rise of his company from humble beginnings, his astute management of diversification and his support for the dairy industry.
Commenting on the awards, MDC chairman Brian Peacock said: “Rewarding innovation is critical to the progression of the UK dairy industry and has to be a positive move for all.”
