Prima Donna sets eyes on UK
THE NETHERLANDS/UK – Netherlands-based Vandersterre Group aims to start marketing its Prima Donna label cheeses in the UK this October.
Vandersterre managing director Bert Klein told Dairy Industries International that this export move is on the cards as next in an expansion programme which has included the introduction of self-service packaging and the expansion of state-of-the-art storage and distribution facilities in its Bodegraven HQ in the last two years alone.
Vandersterre’s logistics centre now covers almost 5,000 m2 following 50% enlargement of floor space and the introduction of a semi-automatic order picking system.
A range of cheeses, from traditional Gouda through to gourmet goat and sheep products, is marketed under the Prima Donna, Landana and Belle de Hollande labels. Flavoured Goudas now feature more than ten added ingredients from walnuts to nettles.
The Vandersterre Group, which is one of Europe’s fastest growing cheese enterprises, specialises in developing recipes for cheeses and contracting the production to a number of selected dairies, mainly in the Netherlands.
