Hochland adds Russian cheese plant

German cheese manufacturer Hochland has acquired a cheese factory in Russia. It is located in the Penza region, about 500km southeast of Moscow. Tilsiter, a cut cheese type, is produced at the site. This production should continue in the future.
In the next few years the operation will be extensively rebuilt. The plan is to produce both branded products for the retail market and cheese raw materials for the Hochland melted cheese mill in Raos near Moscow.
With this purchase, Hochland is entering the market for hard and semi-hard cheese in Russia.
