Onken kicks the trend
GERMANY – Onken increased the amount of yogurt, quark and dairy desserts sold in 2002 by more that 6%.
The news contrasts starkly with the rest of the German fresh dairy product sector, which on average saw a 1.6% drop in sales.
Onken claims that more emphasis on colourful packaging, a uniform presence right through its products and more emphasis on functional foods increased cash income by 2.3% during 2002.
Although Onken is not one of the country’s leading processors in terms of turnover, the firm’s media presence in the last year in television and print, as well as a national point of sale tasting campaigns, has equalled that of some dairy giants.
