80 million euro shot in the arm for new Campina products

THE NETHERLANDS – Dutch processor Campina has announced that it is to pump an investment of 80 million euro into a new product development initiative.

Called ‘Innovation daily fresh production Netherlands’, the first phase of the investment will be introduced in 2003. It will see Campina concentrate production of new products in a new plant at Maasdam. Products processed at the existing Maasdam plant will be transferred to other Campina factories.

The company has decided to close its plant at Woerden, claiming that it cannot sustain profitable growth. Woerden’s yogurt production will move to Maasdam.
